Tata Communications boosts regional and global connectivity with new TGN-IA2 submarine cable system for faster, scalable digital services.

Tata Communications has announced the integration of a new submarine cable system, TGN-IA2, into its global network. Built by the Asia Direct Cable (ADC) consortium, the system is designed to meet the growing demand for high-capacity, low-latency digital infrastructure across Asia and beyond.

The move is part of the company’s ongoing strategy to strengthen regional and international connectivity, especially for enterprise customers, hyperscalers, and service providers with data-intensive operations.

Seamless integration with global infrastructure

The TGN-IA2 cable system will work alongside Tata Communications’ existing TGN-IA (Tata Global Network Intra-Asia) infrastructure, providing expanded bandwidth and greater route diversity. It also integrates with the company’s broader global network to deliver improved connectivity from Asia to key markets including the US, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India.

The new system enables Tata Communications to control and manage end-to-end capacity upgrades directly, without depending on consortium partners. This approach enhances flexibility, scalability, and provisioning speed, which are critical for business readiness in fast-paced digital environments.

“With TGN-IA2, enterprises can now enjoy a best-in-class network that adapts rapidly to changing needs, supports data-intensive applications such as AI, data centre-to-data centre connectivity and high-definition streaming,” said Genius Wong, Executive Vice President – Core and Next-Gen Connectivity Services and Chief Technology Officer at Tata Communications. “Whether you’re a cloud provider expanding into Asia, an MNC seeking low-latency connectivity across continents, or a digital business scaling globally, TGN-IA2 is a foundation for your future.”

Supporting next-generation business demands

TGN-IA2 is positioned to serve sectors where speed, security, and stability are critical, such as financial services, e-commerce, logistics, and technology. The upgraded network will offer improved latency for faster internet and streaming performance, enhanced reliability and redundancy for business continuity, and seamless interconnection with existing cable systems for maximum coverage.

This infrastructure forms the backbone for emerging and future-facing digital services that rely on real-time data processing and cross-border collaboration. By owning the capacity end-to-end, Tata Communications aims to provide a consistent and streamlined experience for enterprise customers navigating digital transformation.
